Dinner-dance raises funds through fellowship
REDFORD, MI [COCC] -- The Council of Orthodox Christian Churches of Metropolitan Detroit [COCC] sponsored its annual "Spring Celebration" dinner-dance at the banquet hall of Saint Michael the Archangel Church in Redford on Sunday, April 26, 2015.
The event began with a social hour and was followed by a delicious buffet dinner provided by Stefan's Banquets. Approximately 160 attendees enjoyed dancing to traditional ethnic and American music by the Offbeats, and children were entertained by a talented balloon artist. Everyone also enjoyed sweets from a bountiful candy table.
After a warm welcome and introductions by emcee John E. Lazar, the raffles took place. Several prizes were awarded to the lucky winners. Gifts were donated by various individuals and businesses, including Hilltop Party Store in Hartland and www.LogosCreations.com.
A commemorative advertising booklet, containing ads and congratulatory messages from businesses and individuals across the Metropolitan Detroit region, was also distributed. The ad book committee was Mary Ann Dadich (solicitations) and John E. Lazar (design).
Due to the generous support of all the participants, the committee is happy to announce that approximately $4000 was raised for the benefit of our retired clergy and widowed clergy wives.
Special thanks go to the event chairwoman Mihaela Charlier, assisted by Richard Shebib, as well as the clergy and faithful of the host parish, St. Michael the Archangel, together with their catering staff.
We look forward to another wonderful event again next year!
