Council of Orthodox Christian Churches of Metropolitan Detroit elects officers
DETROIT, MI [COCC] -- The Council of Orthodox Christian Churches of Metropolitan Detroit (COCC) has elected the following four new officers to one-year terms:
- President - Olga Liskiwskyi of St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, Southfield;
- Vice President - John E. Lazar of St. George Romanian Orthodox Cathedral, Southfield;
- Secretary - Mary Stanesa of Sts. Peter and Paul Romanian Orthodox Church, Dearborn Heights; and
- Treasurer - Christina Tzilos of The Nativity of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, Plymouth.
Other board members include Richard Shebib of the Antiochian Orthodox Basilica of St. Mary, Livonia, immediate past president; Mary Ann Dadich of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, Detroit, Good Works liaison; and the Very Rev. Laurence Lazar of St. George Romanian Orthodox Cathedral, Southfield, spiritual advisor.
The COCC is a 58-year-old clergy and lay association that represents various canonical Orthodox churches in metropolitan Detroit and sponsors a variety of worship, fellowship, charitable, educational and outreach programs.
