Hockey organization to host benefit for Fr. Dimitrie Vincent
SOUTHFIELD, MI -- Tickets are now available for a special event to be held on Saturday, March 24 at the St. George Cathedral Romanian Cultural Center, located at 18405 W. Nine Mile Rd, Southfield MI 48075.
Hockey has Heart, a 501(c)(3) organization that assists hockey players who experience serious accidents and illnesses, is hosting “An Evening for Fr. Dimitrie” – a fundraising dinner with entertainment and a silent auction to assist Fr. Dimitire Vincent, pastor of St. Thomas Orthodox Church in Farmington Hills, with his ongoing medical and rehabilitation costs.
Having suffered a serious spinal cord injury while playing hockey on November 25, Fr. Dimitrie underwent emergency surgery and intensive rehabilitation [see related story]. He has been released from the rehabilitation facility and is resting at home, but still requires extensive ongoing physical therapy well into the future.
Doors open at 6pm. A sit down family style dinner will be served at 7pm along with an open bar and entertainment by The KufflinKs until 11pm. Dress is casual but no jeans, please.
Tickets are $75 per person or a table of eight (8) for $600.00. Business sponsorships are also available at $1000 and include a VIP table of eight (8), special signage at the event and on the event website. 100% of the funds raised will be passed directly to Fr. Dimitrie, as any processing fees will be absorbed by the HHH general fund.
The organizers are also looking for items to be donated for use in the silent auction. All items are fully tax deductible at fair market value. HHH will provide appropriate tax documentation.
